As of June 1, 2023, UBC Okanagan Child Care is managed and operated by UBC’s Student Housing & Community Services Department, which includes our current child care location and a new building.
Our current child care centre, located at 1262 Discovery Avenue, is licensed for 56 children, with two rooms for children from 8 months to 3 years, and two rooms for children 3 to 5 years. The Centre is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Our commitment
UBC Okanagan Child Care is dedicated to building a welcoming and inclusive community. We are committed to providing and expanding child care services to ensure that they are available on campus for families who live, study and/or work on campus.
We have a new building opening soon!
In 2020, we received partial funding to increase the number of licensed spaces by an additional 37 spaces. This new addition increases the total number of childcare spaces to 93 (34 spaces for infants/toddlers and 59 spaces for 3-5-year-olds). Construction has begun on our new building – located next to our existing Child Care Centre – which is expected to open in the Fall of 2024.
